I’m anticipating the chatter that will begin once the Dodgers release Andruw Jones from his contract this week. Should the Nats take a chance on him? He is only 31, even though he’s something like a 12 year veteran. He also doesn’t hit for average, but if he’s healthy he could add some sorely-needed pop to the lineup. They shouldn’t pay him anything near what he was making for the Dodgers, but he may come cheap if he’s looking to prove himself again after being hurt last year and only hitting 3 homers with 14 RBI. And Jones will still collect the $21 million left on his salary from the Dodgers, so he doesn’t need to demand top dollar to be able to make ends meet.
